Kaiser Permanente Colfax Marathon Awards $80,000 To Charity in 2016

Largest Year for Marathon Relay, More than 1,200 Teams

Colfax Marathon awarded $80,000 to the top relay teams in the Open Marathon Relay, Corporate Cup and Government Cup Relays.  The top teams received a trophy to keep and a cash award, ranging from $750-$2,500, which they give to the Charity Partner of their choice.

More than 17,000 runners registered for one of six events included in the 11th annual Kaiser Permanente Colfax Marathon that took place on May 14th and 15th.  This was the largest year for the DaVita Charity Partners Program as well with more than 220 charities participating.

New this year to the marathon relay division was the restaurant division. The top three winners included Harman’s Eat & Drink, Einstein Noah Restaurant Group and Lou’s Food Bar.

Others to note in the Corporate Division include KPMG taking the win in the women’s corporate division and second in the men’s corporate division. AECOM took first in the men’s corporate division. In the coed corporate division Denver Health Paramedics captured the win.

In addition to the Corporate Division the Government Cup and Open Relay had teams competing in several categories.
Among the winners of the Government cup is the Public School Awards with Denver Public Schools taking first place followed by McGlone Elementary School, Jeffco Public Schools and Soar Charter School. Kids, families, teachers and administrators all came together to raise money and awareness for their schools.

“This is a terrific program for our teachers to inspire our students, get healthy and set a goal. We were proud to have more than 50 teams participating in the Colfax Marathon,” Added Emily O’Winter, District Healthy Schools Coordinator, Jeffco Public Schools.

The Government Cup Division was filled with teachers, policemen, government employees, firefighters and more competing to win $21,000. This year, an additional $5,000 was added to the government cup and earmarked specifically for public schools.

Lastly is the Open relay division posting some of the fastest relay times of the day.  In the Men’s Open Relay division is first place winner Colorado Running Club finishing the full marathon in 2 hours 31 minutes.
