Rutledge Cancer Foundation
The Rutledge Cancer Foundation was founded in 2011 after 15-year-old Carley Rutledge was diagnosed with Stage IV Ewing sarcoma. After a relapse in 2012, Carley participated in a groundbreaking vaccine trial that kept her cancer in remission for eight years. Tragically, her cancer returned in 2020, and she passed away at 27.
Our mission is to ease the impact of cancer on adolescents and young adults (AYAs), raise survival rates, and find a cure for sarcomas and other solid tumors.
We’re excited to return to the Denver Colfax for our fourth year! Last year, we had 130 runners and raised $16,000, which helped us form our first partnerships with St. Luke’s and Children’s Hospital Colorado. This year, we aim to expand those partnerships and help even more AYAs in the greater Denver area.
Carley made Colorado her home after six years at CU Boulder and loved everything about Denver—her job, her friends, and the parks like Sloan’s Lake and Cheesman. An avid runner, the Colfax half marathon was always her favorite.
By joining or donating to Carley’s Cool Cats, you’re supporting the more than 90,000 AYA cancer patients diagnosed each year and helping meet their unique needs.
Together, we can bring a brighter, healthier future to AYAs battling cancer.
