Colfax Marathon Relay Winner Heading to US Marathon Olympic Trials
DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado is known for its sports enthusiasts and outdoor explorers. But especially in the height of winter, it’s easy to forget that the state often provides the most Olympians per capita for not just the Winter Games, but also the Summer Games.
Two Colfax Marathon runners are hoping to be among those headed to the 2024 Summer Olympics, scheduled to be held July 26-Aug. 11 in Paris. The two Coloradans are going to try for one of three spots on the American men’s marathon team.
Garret Lee and Tyler McCandless are both Denver-area runners who were able to qualify for the 2024 trials. To do so, both had to run the 26.2 miles in a marathon during a qualifying race in under 2 hours and 18 minutes.
